LEAN Value Stream Mapping

Overview:
In the Value Stream Mapping course, participants learn to identify value-added and non-value-added activities in a product family’s value stream.  Students systematically draw a holistic representation of the material and information flows for the product family and identify the various types of waste that exist in the system.   This three-day course includes a hands-on workplace project that allows participants to map a shop floor process of an actual manufacturing value stream.

How Participants Will Benefit:
At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the components and flow of a product’s production path from beginning to end
  • Draw a visual representation of every process in the material and information flow of a production path
  • Create a current state value stream map and develop a future state value stream map of an actual production process at a manufacturing company
  • Develop an implementation plan for attaining the future state of the same manufacturing production process
