Quality Engineer - Continuous Improvement

Micro Systems Engineering, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of BIOTRONIK Gmbh., Inc. now has an exciting opportunity available for a Quality Engineer in beautiful Portland Oregon. Relocation assistance will be provided.
The Quality Engineer will manage and improve component quality at incoming. The goal is to reduce component related failures at incoming and in production by driving quality improvement projects at the supplier. The position includes all tasks from monitoring the component quality and supplier performance to the closure and approval of improvement projects.
The Quality Engineer’s responsibilities include the following:
Monitor component failures at incoming and communicate the issues to supplier using the existing discrepancy report and corrective action systems.
Identify low quality components and drive quality improvement projects with the supplier.
This task includes the critical review of component characteristics and the selection of projects that are worth the effort.
Define new tests to screen for component failures found in the SMT production line.
Improve the component quality rating system.
Implement weak supplier, perform quality audits and drive quality system improvements.
Represent the quality team in component and module development activities to insure correct testing and inspection methods.
Less than 10% travel.
Qualifications for the position include:
A BS/MS in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline that offers basic education in electronic component and assembly technologies.
2-5 years hands-on experience in quality assurance or electronic component manufacturing processes preferred.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience leading cross-functional teams for technical projects.
6-sigma green belt experience.
Corrective and preventive action systems experience.
Failure analysis techniques.
Experience with quality audits.
