BiO Collaboration: RS Medical
OBA member
RS Medical, with corporate offices in Vancouver, Washington, is a premier provider of physician-prescribed home electrotherapy, traction and bracing rehabilitation products to relieve pain and improve function. Its collaborations with local firms help the company respond quickly to customer needs while maintaining a lean engineering team.
“Our collaborations with local design and manufacturing partners are key to our success,” said Earl Aune, RS Medical’s director of engineering. “There’s no substitute for face-to-face, hands-on interaction to create an effective design environment. Everyone has the advantage of being able to read subtle nuances in reactions to proposed concepts plus be able to respond quickly with agreed upon solutions. The end result is that we’re able to go to tooling with confidence that we’ll get it right the first time.”
Aune is happy to support the local bioscience industry, where he finds the quality, responsiveness and cost-effectiveness he needs. “A thriving local industry is good for Oregon bioscience companies and the Northwest overall, but that’s not the only reason to do business here. We look at potential partners all over the world, and these local companies help us provide top quality products for our customers, within the time and cost parameters the market demands.”

The mission of the Oregon Bioscience Association is to promote the growth and quality of our industry through community, collaboration and commercialization. Every quarter, we’ll use this space to highlight successful local collaborations within Oregon’s thriving bioscience infrastructure. Do you have a great collaboration story to tell? Contact us at
