New OBA Executive Director Will Keep the Momentum Going
By John Tortorici
The Oregon Bioscience Association has accomplished quite a bit during my time as interim director. We solidified our financial footing so that the organization is sustainable in the most fundamental sense of the word. We focused our efforts on bringing direct value to members through workforce development and benefits programs and a website that is a valuable resource center. And we built a strong behind-the-scenes business infrastructure that will support our growth for some time to come, including a robust Government Affairs Committee. It’s fulfilling for me to look back at what we’ve done and to see the response from the community.

Now I’m pleased to be passing the reins to Dennis McNannay, who has been selected as the new executive director of the Oregon Bioscience Association. Dennis brings more than two decades of rich, local experience and contacts in finance, technology, bioscience and public policy. Our members will benefit from his deep background that includes capital fundraising, strategic planning, market analysis, sales and marketing.
A quick study and full of energy, Dennis is looking forward to extending the OBA’s successes. In the next few months, he’ll be out talking to as many people as possible, in and around the industry, to listen, learn and prioritize the organization’s next steps. As Dennis says, “I’m eager to discover new opportunities for growth and collaboration, and to help build our sector as an even stronger element in the Oregon economy.” To an extent, his success will be dependent on your willingness to spend time with him, to help him see how your needs overlap with those of other members and where growing trends are arising. I encourage you to be part of this process. Please help us welcome Dennis McNannay.
