Economic Bright Spot in Oregon: Statewide Bioscience Industry Adds More Jobs and Economic Benefits Than Previous Years

Today’s release of the Oregon bioscience industry’s new economic impact study shows biotechnology, life sciences and medical research are ‘recession-proof,’ contributing more than $7.2 billion in economic activity and 36,000-plus jobs to Oregon’s economy, with an increase noted in 2009 biotech workers’ wages. Federal research funding for Oregon is also at its highest.
