Oregon State University’s efforts to expand its technology transfer operations paid off, with royalties from university-produced research growing 63 percent in the fiscal year to $4 million.
And the Corvallis campus said that figure could rise even higher with the passage of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, the patent reform bill expected to be signed Friday by President Barack Obama. The bill is designed to make patent approvals more swift, moving the U.S. from a “first to invent” system to a “first to file” system.
