We are Micro Systems Engineering, Inc. part of the worldwide BIOTRONIK group, a medical electronics manufacturer located near Portland, Oregon, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We now have an opportunity for a Clinical Research Engineer.
The successful candidate will interface with in-house development groups during the definition and prototyping of new and innovative features, as well as during the user-level verification of the implementation. You will interface with outside clinical research partners to design studies, collect data, evaluate and summarize results, while improving the intellectual relationship with external research partners. You will be responsible for design, testing, and evaluation of feature prototypes, and for writing feature specifications, test specifications, and design specifications for use in development projects. You will also manage clinical and experimental studies throughout their life-cycle, generate proposals based on a research road-map, design and write clinical study protocols. You will interface with IRB/ethics committees, report and publish studies, transfer results into intellectual property. You will also conduct literature reviews and summarize research/feature trends in CRM industry and constantly optimize the applied research process with respect to efficiency, run-time and manpower. You will work in a highly innovative environment, and frequent patent applications as well as scientific publications are expected.
The position requires a PhD or BS/MS in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent work experience in research environments and at least three years of research experience in the biomedical field. A strong background in biological data analysis (linear, stochastic, time/frequency domain, pattern recognition), especially with tools like C++/C#/ Matlab, and in electrotherapy of the heart and/or biomedical engineering is required. Self-motivated, self-directed, quick study with excellent written and verbal communication skills is required. Background in embedded coding (C) is preferred.
