The focus of Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is Drug Product manufacturing (Component Prep & Compounding, Liquid/Lyophilized Filling, Automated/Manual Inspection, Packaging/Finished Products and Distribution.)

Job Summary:
As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the VSL is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end Make Access Release (MAR) process of a specified group(s) of products or technologies within the given site, through the given scope of production, to possibly include DS (Drug Substance), DP (Drug Product), FG (Finished Goods).

Accountable for the E2E manufacture of all Commercial Lyophilized Products filled and/or FG packaged, and distributed to North America; as well as semi-finished drug product vials shipped to affiliates around the globe. This includes strategic long-range planning, operational planning, manufacturing, assess and release of commercial product, and Clinical is excluded at this time.  Some manufacturing and quality steps may be provided as a service to the value stream.

Main Accountabilities:
Fully accountable for all KPIs and outcomes of the Value Stream (VS) in line with DP strategic goals (RFT, OLT, cost and engaged workforce);
Building and leading a visionary outlook together with stakeholders and other VSLs for the network, the site and VS;
Advocate for Roche’s mission of advancing and boldly championing diversity, equity, and inclusion
Creating an environment conducive to robust manufacturing execution and continuous improvement;
Collaborating with peers to balance requirements across own and other VSs, removes barriers within and across VSs;
Ensuring Supply Chain resilience and agility for fast time-to-launch;
Fully accountable for the management of the discretionary VS budget;
Leading a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team with a wide range of expertise (including but limited to Operators, Mechanics, Quality functional experts) and multiple hierarchical levels to ensure ‘right- first-time’ and a short order lead-time by implementing a customer-oriented lean end-to-end mindset;
Responsible for the people leadership of cross-functional teams within the VS, in accordance with the Roche People Practices;
Demonstrated “Servant Leadership” to frontline staff
Ensuring succession planning is completed per the PTM process i.e. for the area of responsibility identify key positions, review regularly having potential succession candidates identified and job profiles up to date;
Ensuring that all business-critical resources, expertise, capabilities and mindset are available;
Collaborating with the PT network and site partners to ensure overall PTM production strategy and commitments are met;
Ensure succession planning is completed per the PTM process i.e. for the area of responsibility identify key positions, review regularly having potential succession candidates identified and job profiles up to date.

Qualifications / Requirements:

BS/BA degree in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Post Graduate-level course work, including management training (e.g., an MBA) is favorable
Significant relevant bio/pharmaceutical experience, including cross-functional group management and proven end-to-end Pharma business execution expert
A fundamental, working knowledge of safety, quality systems, and quality assurance concepts is required including the application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
Strong creative leadership skills according to the Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst (VACC) model and proven ability to build visionary outlook; remove barriers within and across VSs; develop people and technical capabilities; create an environment which enables people to perform at their best
Proven ability to implement and coach Lean way of working
Demonstrated capability to prioritize PTG network, site and VS and proven ability to collaborate across and within the PT and PTG network to achieve required levels of production performance
Understands and applies agile ways of working
Change Management expertise and experience in creation of a long-term vision for a respective department
Lean mindset and end-to-end thinker with a focus on continuous improvement;
Proven entrepreneurial mindset and track record
Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level in an environment that exhibits significant ambiguity
Excellent communication skills, at both a global and local level, to include presenting to regulatory authorities as needed
