As a Scientist III, you will be a member of a cross-disciplinary team devoted to innovating and delivering solutions to biomanufacturing challenges across the industry. You will routinely conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and communicate and present results to Lonza research and development teams. You will also apply molecular and cellular biology fundamentals and techniques in a hypothesis-driven environment to address problem statements that support the understanding and development of biotherapeutic protein production.
You will be responsible for designing and developing assays, executing molecular and cellular biology experiments, improving existing methods, automating appropriate analytical assays, interpreting and communicating results, as well as mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to basic biologics laboratory management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Applying fundamental knowledge of molecular and cellular biology including: biotherapeutic protein function, cell metabolism, cell biology
Design and execute fundamental biology experiments as applied to biotherapeutic protein production
Characterize cells and cell cultures using molecular and cellular biology techniques including: DNA/RNA/Protein extraction and gel electrophoresis, western blots, qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, in vivo and in vitro functional assays
Develop novel methodologies as required to characterize cell and cell culture material, apply high throughput methodology as appropriate
Consult scientific literature to aid in experimental design and interpretation of results
Communicate technical information to internal teams and/or teams external to Lonza in the form of oral and written correspondence, presentations, and reports
Support growth of more junior colleagues, lead mentorship of interns
