Stealth Company X is a Portland-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery of new delivery systems for emerging drug and gene therapies. Our research platform enables discovery of new materials for nucleic acid and drug delivery across a variety of disease indications. We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, seeking to develop novel life-saving medicines in a cross-disciplinary environment.

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Synthetic Chemistry team. You will design, prepare, and characterize novel compounds to incorporate in our proprietary delivery platform. You will work with the discovery, formulation, and biology teams, CROs, and corporate partners in the characterizations of new delivery materials and their interactions with various biological systems.

·      Develop novel compounds to further advance the delivery platform
·      Collaborate with chemistry CROs to expedite research efforts
·      Identify and establish structural trends
·      Acquire, analyze, and record experimental data, develop SOPs
·      Report and discuss results in team meetings and present to external partners
·      Assist in general lab maintenance (instrument maintenance, inventory management, regulatory compliance, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
·      PhD in Chemistry with 1+ years of experience or MS in Chemistry with 3+ years of experience in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biological chemistry, or a related field
·      Strong background in modern synthetic organic chemistry including analytical characterization (NMR, UV/vis, IR, chromatography, MS, HPLC etc.)
·      Experience with designing and executing multistep syntheses, troubleshooting of reactions
·      Strong communication skills in a multidisciplinary setting, good record keeping, experience in analytical protocol development
·      Must possess good time and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:
·      Experience in surface chemistry or computational chemistry
·      Experience in IP and patent management
·      Knowledge of work in a high throughput setting (flow chemistry, multiple reactor systems etc.)
·      Experience with biomolecule preparation, conjugation, and purification (peptides, proteins, nucleic acids etc.)
·      Knowledge of translational studies and formulation processes is desirable
